IIT Roorkee has announced the GATE 2025 exam dates. The exam will be held on February 1, 2, 15, and 16, 2025. The GATE 2025 admit card will be available on January 2, 2025. The result date is March 19, 2025.
What is GATE Exam?
Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering or GATE is a national level entrance exam for admission to Master of Technology (MTech) and direct PhD in Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), National Institutes of Technology (NITs), Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs) and other institutes/universities across India. Many public sector undertakings (PSUs) and state electricity boards (SEBs) also accept GATE for recruitment of trainee engineers and scientists for group C-level posts.
The exam is conducted by IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, IIT Kanpur, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Madras, IIT Roorkee and Indian Institute for Science, Bangalore (IISC Bangalore) on rotational basis on behalf of National Coordination Board (NCB - GATE), Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resource & Development (MHRD), Government of India.

GATE 2025 answer keys will be released within 2 – 3 weeks of the GATE 2025 exam. You can download the answer key from official website gate2025.iitr.ac.in. With the response sheet and answer key you can calculate your score before the result is declared.
If you are not satisfied with the answer key you can challenge it by paying 500 rupees per question. Answer key challenge window will be open for 2-3 days only so be aware of the time.

GATE 2025 Counselling
GATE Qualified candidates have two options for counselling. GATE-qualified candidates can opt for COAP for IIT MTech and CCMT for NITs, IIITs and GFTIs MTech. Eligible candidates should participate in GATE 2025 counselling as per schedule. GATE-qualified candidates can also get financial assistance of 12400 per month through GATE counselling.
Counseling Process For GATE COAP 2025
Common Offer Acceptance Portal (COAP) is the common platform for all the participating institutes to fill all the M.Tech. seats and for the participating PSU’s to upload their Job offers to the GATE Qualified candidates.
COAP 2025 will have 5 main and 5 additional rounds. COAP 2025 Main round counseling will be conducted from May 2025 to June 2025 in 5 different rounds. In the main 5 rounds, Candidates will have three options any one option; Accept & Freeze, Retain & Wait and Reject & Wait to select out of three available choices.
Please note that the 5 additional rounds will be final, so candidates will have only Accept and Freeze and Reject options in rounds 6, 7, 8, 9 & 10.
Counseling Process For GATE CCMT 2025
Centralized Counselling for M.Tech./M.Arch./M.Plan. [CCMT] is the common platform for GATE-qualified candidates to take admission to NITs, IIITs & other GFTIs. CCMT 2025 Counselling will have three regular rounds, two special rounds (SR) & a national spot round (NSR).
CCMT will be conducted from June 2025 to July 2025 in 6 rounds. Candidates will have four options for the allotted seats namely Float, Slide, Freeze & Surrender (Participate in the next round).
GATE Eligibility
According to the GATE Exam Eligibility, the candidate aspiring to apply for GATE examination must possess a Bachelor's Degree from a recognized university. There is no minimum or the maximum age limit to appear for GATE examination. The Eligibility Criteria can be further divided into three categories:

Degree-wise GATE Exam Eligibility:

- The candidate must have passed bachelor's degree either of 4 years after Class XII or 3 years after Diploma in Engineering/Technology.

B.Arch.:
- The candidate must have passed bachelor's degree of 5 years in architecture.

GATE Exam Pattern
The purpose of expounding on the GATE Exam Pattern is to gain an understanding of subjects, mark distribution and exam duration, that would help candidates strategize and crack the GATE Examination. The GATE Papers would have questions that test General Aptitude (Language and Analytical Skills) and Engineering Mathematics apart from the core subject. By knowing the GATE Exam Pattern, candidates would be benefitted while GATE Preparation.

GATE Exam Criteria
Candidates need to secure the minimum cut-off marks for the admissions to postgraduate programs (Masters' and Doctoral). Candidates will be awarded a GATE Score if they candidate qualify the cutoff.
GATE Admit card will be released on January 9, 2023, for all candidates. GATE is a national level examination organized by various IITs all over the country. This examination is conducted for providing admissions to students in M. Tech/ME/Direct Ph. D and other programs.
The GATE Admit card would not be sent by post or other channels. Typically, the GATE Admit Card would be containing details such as Name of candidate, Roll Number, Category, Name of Father, Gender, Exam Day and Time, Examination Venue.
