E‑Commerce App Developer (Shopify) Internship in Mumbai at Protega

About the Internship

We’re building AI‑powered post‑purchase protection for online merchants. Our apps let Shopify, Magento 2 and WooCommerce stores seamlessly offer product & shipping protection upsells in their storefronts, and manage claims via a unified dashboard. Join us and own real features used by live merchants.

Selected intern's day-to-day responsibilities include:

A. Shopify App Development:

1. Scaffold and configure a Shopify CLI app (Node.js + Remix + Liquid).
2. Build and deploy Theme App Extension blocks and Liquid snippets for product, cart and post‑purchase upsells.
3. Implement and test webhook handlers (orders/create, carts/update) to sync protection plans.

B. Magento 2 Extension Work:

1. Create and configure Magento 2 modules with composer, CLI commands and XML layout updates.
2. Inject upsell widgets into product and cart templates using UI components and Knockout.js.
3. Write and test observers for order and shipment events.

C. WooCommerce Plugin Development:

1. Scaffold a WordPress plugin, register REST endpoints, and use action/filter hooks.
2. Develop Gutenberg blocks or shortcodes to add protection‑plan checkboxes on product and cart pages.
3. Integrate with WooCommerce webhook events (order.created, checkout.processed).

D. Full‑Stack Skills:

1. Build React components and manage state with Remix loaders and actions.
2. Work with Node.js/Express (or similar) to implement REST/GraphQL APIs.
3. Handle authentication flows (OAuth, App Proxies) and secure API calls.
4. Testing & Debugging
5. Write unit tests for JavaScript modules (Jest) and smoke‑test webhook flows.
6. Debug theme integrations across free & premium Shopify themes, Magento Luma/Blank, and popular WP themes.

E. Documentation & Collaboration:

1. Maintain clear README files, code comments and onboarding guides.
2. Use Git/GitHub for branching, pull requests and code reviews.

Must‑Have Skills:

1. JavaScript/TypeScript (ES6+), Node.js and React
2. Shopify: Liquid templating, Shopify CLI, Theme App Extensions, Ajax Cart API
3. PHP: Composer, Magento 2 module development, WooCommerce plugin hooks
4. APIs & Webhooks: designing, securing (HMAC), handling JSON payloads
5. Version Control: Git branching, merging, PR workflows
6. Familiarity with Remix or Next.js data‑loading conventions
7. Experience with Magento 2 UI components (Knockout.js)
8. Knowledge of WordPress Gutenberg block development
9. Basic DevOps: Docker, CI/CD pipelines, simple server deployment
