Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology (Patiala, Punjab) was established in the academic year of 1956 by its founder Karam Chand Thapar. The institute was previously known as Thapar University. It is known as one of India’s oldest and finest educational institutions. It is a deemed to be university and approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). The institute has also been accredited with grade ‘A’ by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). Besides, the institute is also recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC). The foundation of the institute was laid to impart highly skilled talent to the students of the county and that of overseas.

  • The infrastructure of the institute is well designed and spread over an area of 250 acres.

  • While admission to BE or B. Tech (Lateral Entry) depends on candidates’ score in LEET-TIET.
  • For admission to ME and M. Tech, the candidates must hold a valid score in GATE examination. Final selection is based on their performance in GATE along with personal interview round conducted at the institute.
  • Admission to MBA takes place based on candidates’ performance in CAT/MAT/XAT/NMAT/CMAT/GMAT followed by personal interview and group discussion rounds conducted at the campus.
