The full form of deled is a Diploma in Elementary Education. It is a two-year diploma program that focuses on elementary school teacher training and trains future teachers to educate children in elementary and upper primary schools, ranging in age from 6 to 15. (classes I through VIII). D.El.Ed. colleges accept applicants who have completed their 10+2 or equivalent exams with a minimum aggregate of 50% and are also open to untrained instructors operating in different parts of the nation. Full-time and distance learning options are available. Following the completion of grade 12, students may enroll in deled, a diploma-level course. It's a two-year curriculum that focuses on children's education and trains primary school instructors to educate students in elementary and secondary school. It's an elementary education certificate program that has a four-semester curriculum. It trains students to work in primary and upper primary schools across the country and can be done in a classroom environment or through distance learning. The program will involve both classroom and hands-on instruction, as well as internships. It addresses concepts in child development, educational procedures, and the role of the instructor in student grooming. The deled curriculum covers themes such as child development, educational technology, psychological perspectives on education, school leadership and management, and others.

D.El.Ed. courses provide students with knowledge and expertise in elementary school student teaching. Only a few organizations provide distance d el ed courses. Candidates must have passed their 10+2 Board examination with at least a 50% aggregate score to meet the educational requirements.
Distance D.El.Ed. 2023 programs are available from colleges such as IGNOU and SCERT. Admission to these courses is determined by a merit list or by the deled result. However, the d el ed course has been stopped by IGNOU since 2019.

Candidates can work in private schools, government schools, daycare centers, private tuition centers, junior teachers, content writers and/or reviewers, librarians, record keepers, and education counselors are all options.

Candidates must take CTET or state-level TET tests after completing the d el ed program in order to begin a career as an elementary school teacher.
