The JEE Main 2025 Exam will be conducted from January 22 to 31, 2025. The National Testing Agency has introduced a few changes in the JEE Main 2025. These changes in the rules of JEE Main are made so that the administration conducts the exam without any challenges and is able to maintain transparency. One of the most important rules introduced is in the tie-breaking policy. As per the new Tie Breaking Policy, the marks obtained by candidates in Mathematics will be given priority followed by marks obtained in Physics and Chemistry. 

Another new rule is that numerical-based questions will be subjected to negative marking. In JEE Main 2024, no negative marking was available for numerical questions. Also, the NTA has reduced the JEE Main Syllabus 2025.

What is the Total Number of Questions in the JEE Main 2025 Exam?

The total number of questions in JEE Main 2025 Exam has been reduced due to the removal of some topics from the JEE Main Syllabus 2025. There will, now, be 75 questions in Paper 1 and 77 and 100 questions in Paper 2A and Paper 2B respectively.

New JEE Main 2025 Exam Pattern

The NTA has revised the JEE Main Exam Pattern 2025. As per the latest JEE official notification and new JEE Main 2025 Exam Pattern, out of the 10 optional questions, 5 have been deleted in section B of JEE Main Paper 1 and JEE Main Paper 2. Now, all these 5 questions of Section B are mandatory. After the deletion of these 5 questions, the overall number of questions in the JEE Main 2025 has been reduced.

New Marking Scheme of JEE Main 2025

The only change in JEE Main 2025 Marking Scheme is that there will be a negative marking of 1 mark for numerical based questions in Section B. 

There used to be no negative marking for numerical based questions. From JEE Main 2025, there will be a negative marking in those questions as well.

NTA Reduces the JEE Main 2025 Syllabus

The National Testing Agency has reduced the syllabus of JEE Main 2025. Some of the topics from Physics Syllabus of JEE Main 2025 have been removed from the curriculum. The topics related to vectors have been removed. 

The removed topics are Resolution of Vectors, Unit Vectors, Scalars & Vectors, Vectors, Addition & Subtraction and Scalar & Vector products.

NTA Reduces the Number of JEE Main 2025 Exam Centres

The examination conducting authority has removed some of the centres from the List of JEE Main 2025 Exam Centres. There used to be 300 centres but for JEE Main 2025, the number is now reduced to 284.

New Tie Breaking Policy in JEE Main 2025 Exam

The NTA has introduced the new JEE Main 2025 Tie Breaking Policy. As per this new policy:

  • If there is a tie between 2 candidates then the candidate with more marks in Mathematics will be given priority and hence a better rank. 
  • If there is a tie in the marks of Mathematics, then the marks of Physics will be considered.
  • If there is a tie in Mathematics and Physics scores, then the marks obtained by them in Chemistry will be prioritized. 
  • If the tie still persists, then the ratio of correct and incorrect answers will be taken into account. 
  • If the tie still exists, in such cases the candidates will be assigned the same ranks.

New JEE Main Official Website

The new official website of JEE Main 2025 is jeemain.nta.nic.in. It was previously the official website which was changed to jeemain.nta.ac.in for JEE Main 2024. 

It is now again changed to jeemain.nta.nic.in.

Increase in JEE Main Exam Duration for PwD Candidates

The NTA has increased the exam duration of JEE Main Exam 2025 for candidates belonging to the PwD (Person with Disability) and PwBD (Person with Benchmark Disability. The candidates will now get 1 hour extra. The duration has now increased from 3 hours to 4 hours.

These new rules in the JEE Main 2025 Exam introduced by the NTA can help students prepare in a strategic manner and attempt questions with more confidence. 

Revised JEE Main 2025 Exam Pattern

With a decrease in the total number of questions, the students will get extra time for each question in the paper. 

Changes in JEE Main 2025 Marking Scheme

Now that the NTA has made changes in the marking scheme of JEE Main 2025 Exam and introduced negative marking in the numerical based questions, the candidates will have to be more than sure to submit the answer.

JEE Main 2025 Syllabus Reduced

Some of the topics from the Physics Syllabus of JEE Main 2025 have been removed. It is a sigh of relief for the JEE Main aspirant. They can now focus on the rest of the topics.
