JEE Main Exam JEE Main Exam 2024 is being conducted in two sessions i.e. January and April. The examination will be conducted in various slots of 4-5 days. The National Testing Agency (NTA), being the conducting authority of JEE Main Exam has released the exam day guidelines for the convenience of JEE Main Exam takers. These guidelines were released along with the hall ticket of JEE Main Exam released during the first session of the exam conducted in February 2021. Students taking the exam must ensure that they follow these guidelines in order to save their time and energy. All these disciplinary protocols are meant to ensure students' safety and well-being.

JEE Main Admit Card for Phase 2 or April session is expected to be released after the successful registration of the exam. There is no specific date mentioned for its release and now that JEE Main for April session has been postponed due to COVID-19, the release of JEE Main admit card has also been postponed.

This article will help you understand the guidelines and important instructions to be followed on your exam day. These important instructions include details such as what to carry, what and what not to do, reporting time etc. Students must be aware of these instructions to avoid any last-minute hassle.

JEE Main Exam Instructions and COVID-19 Advisory

  • The Government of India has provided these guidelines in the current scenario of COVID-19. NTA has declared to implement all the social distancing measures in order to ensure health and safety of students appearing for the exam.
  • Candidates are advised to strictly adhere to these guidelines for social distancing and hygiene to ensure their and other candidates' health. Sufficient measures and safety protocols are being taken into consideration without compromising the high standards in the conduct of the examination.
  • All the aspirants of JEE Main are strongly encouraged not to bring something besides allowed things to JEE Main Exam Center. Nevertheless, in unavoidable cases, there will be courses of action at the test centers to store belonging and possessions at students' peril.

Preparation at JEE Main Exam Center

  • Standard precautionary measures for safety and well being of students and maintaining of hygiene are being taken at the exam centers.
  • Before every shift, the seating area will be thoroughly sanitized by the staff. Desktops (monitors and keyboards, mouse, and webcams), desks, chairs, door handles, railing of staircase, lift buttons, etc. will be cleaned right after their use.
  • The seating arrangement will be made as per the guidelines released by the Government of India.
  • The entrance point of the exam center will have hand sanitizers available for hand sanitization.
  • Th entrance point of exam centers will also have bar code readers to scan the barcode printed on JEE Main Admit Card.
  • Students will also be informed about their exam lab/hall or room number while entering the examination hall.
  • The invigilators of the center will be wearing gloves. They will keep rough sheets at all desks before the exam is started.
  • NTA is making sure that all the processes carried out at the exam center are touch-free so that social distance norms are followed strictly.

JEE Main 2024 Exam Centers – Pre-Exam Preparations

In order to avoid any crowding and maintain social distancing at the time of entry, students are advised to reach the exam center according to the reporting time given in their JEE Main Admit Card.

  • All the details in Admit Card must be duly filled as per the instructions.
  • If any candidate is with a scribe allotted to him/her, both must have their own mask.
  • Items allowed inside the exam center are as follow:
  • Admit card along with one photo id proof
  • Ball point pen (transparent)
  • Passport sized photograph to be pasted on the attendance sheet.
  • Hand sanitizer
  • Transparent water bottle

JEE Main Exam Center Entry Guidelines

  • Every student at the exam center must maintain a 6 feet distance at all times.
  • Students must also read the instructions provided by the center staff and follow them.
  • Students will be given a 3-ply face mask by exam center authorities.
  • In order to avoid the use of any unfair means, students are advised to use these provided masks.
  • Students can't continue wearing masks they brought by themselves.
  • Students must also carry the identification documents to be shown at the exam center.
  • While entering, candidates must show the undertaking filled in by them. Their body temperature will also be checked.
  • Students must religiously adhere to the instructions provided by the center staff as they will guide candidates to their respective exam hall or labs after the barcode on their admit card is scanned.
  • A candidate will be denied entry only if he/she violates the COVID-19 directives of the government.

Guidelines for Students During and After the JEE Main Exam

  • Students will find 5 A4 sheets kept at each desk for rough work. Any additional sheet will be made available on demand.
  • Although the exam centers will be sanitized properly, students can further sanitize their seats allotted to them as per their wish.
  • Students must also mark their presence by pasting a passport size photograph and signing on the attendance sheet.
  • After the exam is completed, students can only exit after the instructions are made by the invigilator.
  • On leaving the exam lab, students will be asked to drop their admit card along with rough sheets in the drop boxes.
  • In case student fails to drop rough sheet and admit card, the management is authorized to take strict action against the student. This could also include cancelation of their candidature.

Candidates are not allowed to carry any personal belonging to the examination center. Below mentioned are the items they must not carry as they are prohibited:

  • Electronic Gadget or Calculator
  • Instrument, Geometry or Pencil Box
  • Any Metallic Item
  • Camera or Tape Recorder
  • Mobile Phone, Earphones, Microphone, or Pager
  • Eatables
  • Paper or Stationery
  • Handbag or Purse

Guidelines for Scribes of JEE Main 2024

While filling the JEE Main Application Form, candidates must ensure that they fill in the type and percentage of disability correctly. Any incorrect information found in application form will lead to cancelation of their candidature.

  • Candidates with disability of 40% or more will be given scribe or reader.
  • Candidates will have the privilege to choose their own scribe or reader. The would be required to submit the request to the superintendent of the center.
  • After the request is placed, it is the center superintendent who will identify the scribe or reader for the candidate.
  • Candidates will also be allowed to meet their respective scribe or reader one day prior to the examination.
  • Candidates can analyze if the scribe or reader allotted to them is suitable or not.
  • Candidates with disability of 40% or more will be allotted 1 hour of compensatory time irrespective of the fact that they have been provided with a scribe or reader.

Are You a Diabetic Student?

The National Testing Agency has also declared a set of instructions for diabetic students. Students with Diabetes can carry eatables and drinks inside the examination hall. This is to ensure good health and well-being of diabetic students. Below mentioned are the items that diabetic students can carry inside the examination hall:

  • Fruits
  • Sugar Tablets
  • Water Bottle (Transparent)

Note* No packaged food items are allowed inside the hall.


JEE Main 2024 Dress Code

Students willing to take JEE Main 2024 Exam must be aware of and follow these certain rules carried out by the examination conducting authority and the government of India.

Although, there is no specified dress code for JEE Main, aspirants can wear whatever they wish, and they find themselves comfortable in. The article suggests some details for JEE Main 2024 Dress Code in order to help students:

  • Avoid wearing anything with too many pockets
  • Avoid wearing jewelry
  • Try to wear simple clothes with no accessories
  • Preferably wear a pair of jeans, and a loose fit t-shirt
