Engineering is a popular choice among students in India, with over 15 lakh candidates taking various national and state-level entrance exams each year to secure admission to BTech and related courses. Approximately 30 engineering entrance exams are held in India for this purpose, and many engineering aspirants typically sit for multiple exams in a single academic session.

JEE Main is a leading engineering entrance exam in India, attracting over 10 lakh students annually. The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced the exam dates for JEE Main 2024. Session 1 took place from January 24 to February 1, while session 2 was held from April 4 to 12. This exam serves as a gateway for admission to NITs, IIITs, and CFTIs. Additionally, JEE Main is the qualifying exam for the JEE Advanced, which is for admission to IITs. The dates for JEE Advanced 2024 have not been announced yet.

Among the top engineering entrance exams in India are BITSAT, SRMJEEE, COMEDK, VITEEE, and MET.   • WBJEE

The West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination (WBJEE) is a state-level exam administered by the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board (WBJEEB). It serves as a pathway for admission to undergraduate and postgraduate programs in Engineering & Technology, Architecture, and Pharmacy offered by colleges in the state.   • OJEE

The Odisha Joint Entrance Exam (OJEE) is a state-level entrance exam managed by the OJEE Cell for admission to Lateral Entry B.Tech, MCA/Lateral Entry MCA courses. Through OJEE 2024 scores, applicants can seek admission to various programs at colleges participating in the OJEE. Initially planned for the first week of May 2024, the OJEE 2024 exam has been postponed due to the extension of the nationwide lockdown, with new dates to be announced later.

  • MHT CET

The State Common Entrance Test Cell in Mumbai organizes the MHT CET 2024, also known as the Maharashtra Common Entrance Test. This exam is conducted for admissions to the first year of BE/BTech courses in the state of Maharashtra. MHT CET is a pen and paper-based engineering entrance test, and approximately 4 lakh students take the exam annually. Class 12 students with domicile in Maharashtra are eligible to apply for MHT CET 2024. To prepare for MHT CET, candidates need to cover the syllabus of the Maharashtra Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examination.

  • COMEDK

The Consortium of Medical, Engineering, and Dental Colleges of Karnataka (COMEDK) organizes the COMEDK Undergraduate Entrance Test (UGET), which is a state-level examination. The scores from this exam are utilized for admissions to engineering and medical degree courses offered by colleges and institutes affiliated with COMEDK. The exam dates for COMEDK 2024 have been announced.

  • KCET

KCET (Karnataka Common Entrance Test) is an entrance examination organized by the Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) for admission to various undergraduate courses within Karnataka, India. It is considered one of the top 10 entrance exams besides JEE and is utilized for admission to disciplines like Engineering, Pharmacy, Agriculture, and Veterinary Science in colleges throughout the state. The test format comprises multiple-choice questions (MCQs) and covers four sections: Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Biology. Typically, KCET 2024 is conducted offline (pen and paper-based), and the syllabus is based on the 10+2 curriculum of the Karnataka State Board.

  • BITSAT

BITS conducts the BITSAT 2024, a university-level engineering entrance exam, online. This exam offers admission to BITS' three campuses. With approximately 2 lakh applicants annually, BITSAT is highly competitive. The 3-hour exam includes four sections: Physics, Chemistry, English Proficiency and Logical Reasoning, and Mathematics. There are about 2,000 seats available for admission.

  • MET, MIT

Manipal Academy of Higher Education (formerly Manipal University) administers the annual online entrance examination for admissions to the institute. Known as the Manipal Entrance Test (MET) or previously as MU OET, this university-level exam attracts over 50,000 applicants annually. Admissions are offered in 16 engineering courses through MU OET and are open to all eligible candidates. The exam is conducted online and lasts for 150 minutes, consisting of objective multiple-choice questions. Qualifying this exam is mandatory for admission to the institute.

  • TS EAMCET 

TS EAMCET (EAPCET), also known as the Telangana State Engineering, Agriculture & Medical Common Entrance Test, is a popular state-level examination conducted by Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University for admissions to undergraduate engineering, pharmacy, and agriculture programs. TS EAMCET 2024 will be conducted online for 3 hours. The exam consists of 160 multiple-choice questions, with 80 questions in Mathematics, 40 in Physics, and 40 in Chemistry, each carrying one mark. Successful candidates can secure admission to 66 participating institutes in Telangana. TS EAMCET is among the top 10 entrance exams other than JEE, attracting approximately 3 lakh applicants annually.

  • GUJCET

The GSEB has started accepting online registrations for the GUJCET 2024 Exam. Candidates interested in taking the exam must apply before the deadline of January 16, 2024.   • SRM Joint Engineering Entrance Examination (SRMJEEE)

SRM Institute of Science & Technology conducts the SRM Joint Engineering Entrance Examination (SRMJEEE) for admissions to its BTech programs offered at campuses in Kattankulathur, Ramapuram, Vadapalani, and Delhi-NCR. SRMJEEE 2024 will be conducted online at over 100 test centers in India and a few in the Middle East. The institute has released the application form for SRMJEEE 2024.
