Miranda House Facilities
Miranda House offers hostel accommodations for out-of-town students on a twin-sharing basis. There are also four rooms available in a four-seater configuration. Each room is fully equipped with a single bed, a storage box, a drawer, and a fitted mattress. A bedside table, dresser, cupboard, study desk, wall-mounted bookcase, and chair are also in the room. Dining hall, reading room, common room with television set, DTH connection and a home theatre, WiFi connection, and many more facilities are available at the hostel.
Miranda House has a technologically advanced, well-stocked, well-equipped, and user-friendly library with over a million books, 43,270 e-journals, and 100 databases. The library is divided into three levels, each with six special sections: textbooks, general books, reference tools, reserves, periodicals, and braille books. Libsys also automates the distribution of numerous periodicals and magazines.The library also provides access to DULS and important databases such as N-LIST and INFLIBNET, as well as 97,000 and above e-books and 6000 e-journals to students and faculty staff. Miranda House has collaborated with several well-known Library Resource Centers, including the American Center Library, the British Council Library, and DELNET. Members can now access e-resources from other library systems. There are also two Digital Resource Centers at the library. 30 computers in one can be accessed by all users for e-resources. The other is known as the Amba Dalmia Digital Resource Center (ADDRC), and it is intended for visually challenged members, for whom the library organises a special Orientation Programme. Aside from desktop computers loaded with assistive software.
Miranda House has a Medical Support Unit on-site. The college also uses this facility. The Medical Support Unit is affiliated with DU’s World University Service (WUS) Health Centre, which is located near Miranda House at the V. P. Patel Chest Institute. College students come to WUS for basic medical care. A nearby hospital, Nu Life, provides physicians for the college’s in-house medical unit, which includes a doctor three days a week and a nurse six days a week. The medical centre also stocks medications for common illnesses such as fever, pain, allergy, asthma, and so on.There is also an emergency Sick Room at the college. It has two medical beds and one attendant bed, as well as other medical equipment such as an oxygen cylinder, blood pressure machine, glocometer, nebulizer, glucose drip, and so on.
