The Gate exam is scheduled to be conducted on the 1st, 2nd, 15th, and 16th of February 2025 for admission to the Postgraduate Engineering programs. The last date to fill out the application form is September 26, without a late fee. Those who miss the deadline can fill the form by October 7, by incurring a late fee of INR 1400. GATE Registration 2025: The Graduate Aptitude Engineering Test applications are now being accepted at gate2025.iitr.ac.in. The eligible candidates can apply for the exam by registering on the website and filling out the GATE application form followed by paying the GATE application fee. The GATE exam is a nationwide test assessing candidates' knowledge in various undergraduate-level disciplines. Successful candidates can pursue Master's and Doctoral programs, with potential financial aid. GATE scores are used by educational institutions and Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) for recruitment processes.
How to Apply for the GATE Exam?
To apply for the upcoming GATE exam, the candidates need to follow the below listed steps. This year, the GATE exam is being conducted by IIT Roorkee as an online Computer-Based-Test (CBT).
- Visit the official website of the GATE exam - gate2025.iitr.ac.in
- Click on the activated link of ‘GATE ONLINE APPLICATION’ on the home page of the website.
- Fill out the application form, upload the required documents, pay the registration fees, and click on submit

GATE 2025: Documents required to apply for the test
- A high-quality image of the candidate’s photograph conforming to the requirements mentioned in the information brochure.
- High-quality image of the candidate’s signature conforming to the requirements.
- Scanned copy of Category (SC/ST) certificate in PDF format, if applicable.
- Scanned copy of PwD Certificate in PDF format, if applicable.
- Scanned copy of Certificate of Dyslexia in pdf format, if applicable.
- Scanned copy of valid photo Identity document: Aadhar-UID(preferable)/ Passport/ PAN Card/ Voter ID/ Driving License.
- The photo ID must contain the name and date of birth of the candidate and a unique identification number. The original copy of this photo ID must be presented on the exam day for verification.
GATE 2025 eligibility criteria
- Candidates who are currently studying in the 3rd or higher years of any undergraduate degree course and those who have a government-approved degree in Engineering/ Technology/ Architecture/ Science/ Commerce/ Arts/ Humanities are eligible to appear for GATE 2025.
- Candidates who have certification from professional societies approved by MoE/AICTE/UGC/ UPSC as being equivalent to BE/ B. Tech/ BArch/ B. Planning, etc. are also eligible.
- For Candidates who have obtained/are pursuing their qualifying degrees from countries other than India must be currently in the 3rd or higher years or must have completed their Bachelor’s degree (of at least three years’ duration) in Engineering/ Technology/ Architecture/ Science/ Commerce/ Arts/ Humanities to be eligible for GATE 2025.
