XAT Exam is divided into two parts. Part 1 which consists of Multiple Choice Questions. Part 2 consists of Essay Writing and General Knowledge. Essay Writing is a crucial part of the XAT Examination. General Knowledge section tests candidates on a lot of static and current general affairs spanning over a period of 6 months.

Some of the topics that would be tested on the candidates are as follows:

NATIONAL

  1. ISRO MOM Mission: The Mars Orbiter Mission completed 3 years in the orbit of the planet, Mars. The Space Organization was also seeking a lot of proposals on the inter-planetary research. This was one of the important milestones achieved by India in the field of Science and Technology.
  2. Privacy: The recent mandate of the Supreme Court recognizing that Right to Privacy is an important part of Right to Life. Also specifying that any law which is restricting this fundamental right would be examined on the basis of Article 21. Contradictorily, the Center's move to make Aadhaar mandatory to avail various schemes introduced by the Government had come prior to this. 
  3. Triple Talaq: While the Koran pours a lengthy explanation on a procedure for talaq, with scope for reconciliation, the court has said that until the Government formulates a law, there would be an injunction against husbands issuing Triple Talaq. 
  4. Ban on Cow Slaughter: BJP imposed a ban on the sale of cows and buffaloes for slaughter at animal markets across India. The impact of the same on milk and dairy-based businesses could be explored.
  5. Clean India and New India: India, being the third largest economy with a fast-growing market for goods and services. A lot of initiatives introduced by the Government can be explored here. 

ECONOMY

  • GST Reforms: Goods and Services Tax, one of the biggest reforms to simplify the structure of taxation has forced a lot of organizations to restructure the way they work. An approach to examining the impact that this change has had.
  • Economic Slowdown: GDP Growth slumped to a three year low of 5.7% in the initial quarter of the fiscal year. The possible reasons inclusive of GST need to be clearly examined. 
  • NPA issue: With a lot of stressed assets, the details of the phase that the banking sector is undergoing would be required to be studied. 
  • Demonetisation: The Demonetisation issue and the reaction to its implementation. The worst hit and the best hit companies and sectors would be required to be talked about.

BUSINESS

  • Cashless Economy: The motivation behind going cashless for individuals and the schemes of the Government that motivate them to do so.
  • Google Tez: The digital landscape of payments entered by Google in India. Tez offers a B2B feature called for Tez for Business, which allows merchants to get the business on the app. 
  • Flipkart/Snapdeal Merger: The Consolidation of arch-rivals and the talks about it in the media that would have a major impact on the e-commerce industry.
