Bit Mesra, located in Ranchi, Jharkhand, is one of the premier technical institutions in India. Established in 1955, it offers a wide range of undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs in engineering, architecture, management, and other allied fields. The admission process at Bit Mesra is highly competitive, with thousands of students applying every year.
To be eligible for admission to undergraduate courses, candidates must have completed 10+2 or its equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as compulsory subjects. They must also have secured a minimum of 60% marks (55% for reserved categories) in the qualifying examination. For admission to postgraduate courses, candidates must have a bachelor’s degree in the relevant field from a recognized university.
The admission process at Bit Mesra is based on the performance of candidates in national-level entrance examinations such as JEE Main, GATE, CAT, MAT, and CMAT. Candidates are shortlisted based on their scores in these exams and called for counseling rounds. During counseling, candidates are allotted seats based on their merit and preferences.
In addition to the national level entrance exams, Bit Mesra also conducts its own entrance exam, BIT-Mesra Admission Test (BIT-MAT), for admission to its MBA program. The exam consists of objective-type questions and is conducted in various cities across India.
Apart from academic excellence, Bit Mesra also looks for well-rounded candidates who have excelled in co-curricular activities such as sports, music, and arts. Students who have represented their state or country in sports or have won awards at national or international levels are given extra weightage during the admission process.
